A new lease of life for wooden sports floors.

Often School wooden sports floors are not maintained as much as they should be but they can always be renovated by sanding, sealing and court marking.

Sanding:

Your floor needs to be sanded in stages with progressively finer abrasives for the best finish. Starting with grit 40, then grit 60 and finally grit 100 is typically a good procedure for most wood floors. The goal with the first coarse abrasive is to remove the old surface coating, court lines and to flatten the surface.

The first two passes are made using Lagler Hummel dust-free sanding machines giving unbeatable, efficient, premium sanding results. Integrated dust extraction & adjustable pressure. In the hands of experienced craftsmen they are probably the best sanding machine ever made. The third and final pass is made using Bona Flexisand which is the new direction-free sanding machine. Very little dust escapes from these quality machines and the fine finish from the Flexisand is superb.

Sealing:

Bona SuperSport HD, premium two-component waterborne wood floor lacquer specifically formulated for professional use on wood sports floors. Provides a tough, high-build polyurethane finish in compliance with the European standard for indoor sports surfaces. Typical specification on sanded wood floors is 1 x coat of SuperSport Primer, 1 x coat of Bona SuperSport HD, painted court markings, and then a final coat of Bona SuperSport HD. The floor needs to be prepared before and after court markings.

Court design & Marking:

A layout drawing is prepared in full colour and detail and agreed by the School prior to work. Court markings are masked out to the highest standards of accuracy: line width ± 2mm and overall dimensions correct to 0.1%. Circles are masked by a unique circle masking machine. Paint is premium waterborne two-pack polyurethane with outstanding pigments, a 1 coat application by brush and foam roller finished. Schools logos can be stencilled and painted for that finishing touch that encourages school team spirit.
